Komodo National Park in One Day: The 6 Stops on Our Speedboat Route
Padar, Pink Beach, Komodo Island, Taka Makassar, Manta Point and Siaba Besar — one fixed run from a 06:00 departure to a 16:30 return.
Komodo National Park is a UNESCO-listed cluster of islands between Sumbawa and Flores, protected mainly for the wild Komodo dragon but built from a far wider mix of terrain — dry volcanic hills, coral reefs, and sand cays that barely qualify as land. A single day works because the six stops on this route sit close together along one direction of travel, not scattered across the park: the boat covers roughly 120 km of open water point-to-point from Labuan Bajo harbour and back, threading Padar, Pink Beach, Komodo Island, Taka Makassar, Manta Point and Siaba Besar into one loop rather than six separate errands.
Geography sets the schedule, not the other way round. Padar and Pink Beach sit closest to the harbour in the park's western reach, so the day opens there while the light is still soft. Komodo Island itself lies farther out, reached mid-morning once the sun has had time to draw dragons into the open. Taka Makassar and Manta Point occupy the middle stretch, easy to pair into a lunch-then-snorkel afternoon, before the boat curves back toward Siaba Besar — the closest of the six to home port — for one calm final swim ahead of the 16:30 return.
