About Bajo Speedboat

Updated July 2026

Bajo Speedboat is the direct-operator brand of PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia, an ASITA-registered tour operator (member 074/XIX/DPP/2022) based in Denpasar, Bali. We run Komodo open trips and private speedboat charters from Labuan Bajo using our own fleet of 17 licensed speedboats — never a mix of boats borrowed from other operators. Every trip is booked directly with the company that owns the boat, backed by a 4.9-star Google rating from more than 6,800 reviews.

Why boat ownership matters

Search "Komodo open trip" and most of what you'll find are resellers — agents who take your booking, then quietly hand you off to whichever boat happens to be free that day. You often don't know who's actually operating your trip until you're standing on the dock. Bajo Speedboat is different: every boat in our lineup is owned and operated by PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia. That means one company is accountable for the crew, the maintenance, the safety equipment, and the schedule — not a chain of subcontractors. When you book with us, the boat, the captain, and the safety gear are ours, not borrowed.

Legality & permits

Operating tours in Indonesia legally starts with paperwork most travelers never see. Our company, PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia, holds a Nomor Induk Berusaha (NIB) — Indonesia's official business registration number, 1805260128363 — the government ID confirming we're a legally registered tourism business, not an informal operator. We're also a registered member of ASITA (the Association of the Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies), membership 074/XIX/DPP/2022, the industry body that vets tour operators for legitimate, compliant operations. Our office is registered at Jl. Kerta Dalem Sari IV No. 2, Sidakarya, Denpasar Selatan, Bali 80224 — a real, findable address, not a virtual office. None of this is required just to run a WhatsApp booking page. We keep it because it's what a real operator does.

Safety standard

Every one of our 17 speedboats carries the same non-negotiable safety kit, regardless of size or price tier: life jackets sized for every passenger on board, liferafts, an EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon) that alerts search-and-rescue with your exact GPS location if things go seriously wrong, a VHF GMDSS marine radio for direct contact with the coast guard and other vessels, parachute and smoke flares for visual signaling, fire extinguishers, and a stocked first-aid kit. Boats are captained by licensed operators who know these waters, and every trip runs within daily operating hours of 06:00–17:00 WITA — no night crossings through the Komodo strait.

The fleet at a glance

We own and maintain 17 speedboats, ranging from 8-seat boats built for small private groups up to our 35-seat Together, the largest vessel in the fleet. A few examples: Altair Cruise 2 (8 seats, 9-meter hull), Qin Queen (11 seats, all-inclusive service with lunch and snorkel gear), Lembayung 01 (16 seats), Sea Zaydan 03 (22 seats, our largest triple-engine cruiser), and Together (35 seats, quad-engine, built for big groups). For open trips, the specific boat is confirmed the day before departure based on that day's passenger list — for private charters, you choose the boat when you book. No boat is ever shared with another operator's guests unless you book it that way.

How booking works

Booking is handled entirely over WhatsApp — no online payment gateway, no third-party booking platform. First, message us on WhatsApp at +62 851-9009-6797 with your travel dates and group size. Second, we confirm boat availability, share the itinerary and price, and answer any questions directly — this is also when you can ask to visit the harbour and see a boat in person before committing. Third, you confirm your booking and pay the agreed deposit; the remaining balance is settled on the day of departure. If the weather turns unsafe, you get a free reschedule with 90-day credit or a full refund — your choice.

Common Questions

Are you a real operator or a reseller?
We're a real operator. Bajo Speedboat is run by PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia (NIB 1805260128363, ASITA member 074/XIX/DPP/2022), and we own all 17 speedboats in our fleet outright. We don't take your booking and pass it to a third-party boat owner — the company you book with is the company that owns and crews the boat.
Can I visit before booking?
Yes. Message us on WhatsApp and we can arrange a time for you to meet at the harbour in Labuan Bajo, see the boat, and meet the crew before you commit to a booking. It's the easiest way to confirm we're legitimate if you're booking from overseas.
Why WhatsApp-only?
WhatsApp lets you talk to a real person who knows current fleet availability, weather conditions, and pricing — not a generic contact form or a chatbot. It's also how we handle the practical back-and-forth of trip planning: confirming pax count, dietary needs, or last-minute schedule changes. Every booking is confirmed in writing in the same thread, so there's a clear record for both sides.

One perfect day is waiting.
